Getting away with not providing public records

In addition to not having being provided any emails between employees from their personal accounts, the police employees have found yet another method to communicate electronically and prevent public disclosure:  Text messages.

Per Bonnie Walton on the City owned and issued mobile devices:

“Yes, the emails sent or received from the City email addresses are captured as public records and recorded centrally.  (City business is not to be conducted using other forms of communication that is not being captured centrally.  Text messaging is not to be used and is not captured.)” – Bonnie Walton

The point to be made is that the City of Renton is not transparent, nor wants public records released to the public if they can prevent it.  That means communicating official business on personal email and text messaging.

Renton City Mayor Denis Law = FAIL.

  1. Some Renton Guy says:

Test messages may not be, but the city of Renton has a Blackberry server that should be capturing all BBM messages.
